Dreaming with God in 2015
It’s a new year, full of fresh hope, new dreams and opportunities to step out in full faith that God will move in new ways.
This week I read the story of the Widow’s oil, and I felt God speaking to me about my dreams for 2015.
2 Kings 4:1-7 The wife of a man from the company of the prophets cried out to Elisha “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that he revered the Lord. But now his creditors are coming to take my two boys as his slaves. Elisha replied “How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?” She replied “I have nothing except a little oil”. Elisha said “Now go around and ask all of your neighbours for empty jars. Don’t ask for just a few. Then go inside and shut the door behind you and your sons. Pour oil into all the jars, and as each one is filled, put it to one side. She left him and afterward shut the door behind her and her sons. They brought the jars to her and she kept pouring. When all the jars were full, she said to her son “Bring me another one”. But he replied “there is not a jar left”. Then the oil stopped flowing. She went and told the man of God, and he said “Go, sell the oil and pay your debts, you and your sons can live on what is left”.
I love the word of God and I absolutely love this story!
As I read it, I sensed God saying to me: “Carolyn, there are no limits on my heavenly storehouse. Will you dream with me? Will you dare to dream great dreams which reflect the magnitude of my heart and my Kingdom?”
Oh yes Lord, I want to – I will!
Then go and get your empty jars.
(The jars in this story represented my dreams.)
So I lined them up (metaphorically speaking),
And with every jar I identified another dream.
. . . Father, this bottle represents my dream of bringing you glory and sharing the message of the Almond Tree to the nations.
. . . and this bottle represents my dream of travelling this year ….
and this bottle represents …….
More bottles … more dreams – I just kept going and going and going (God was encouraging me to take on what Elisha said to the widow – “don’t ask for just a few”). It was an amazing time of fun dreaming together with Father God, and I was so excited and inspired at the end of it!
Now back to the story of the widow …
Elisha instructed the widow to gather as many bottles as she could…
But looked what happened when they ran out “she said to her son “bring me another one”. But he replied “there is not a jar left”. Then the oil stopped flowing.”
Don’t let your bottles of dreams run out!
God is inviting you to dream with Him afresh in 2015.
I want to encourage you to passionately, boldly and confidently go after your dreams with fresh a new resolve in 2015 (even if you didn’t get as far as you wanted to last year with your dreams, start with a fresh commitment to pursue them again this year!).
God is looking for big kingdom-dreamers, and for those who will trust Him to do impossible things through them. Remember the story in Matthew 8:5-10 when Jesus was amazed and delighted at the woman who had great faith? I believe that as you dream big with God, it puts a smile on Jesus face. He gets excited and says “at last, someone who knows who they are, and who I am!
That kind of faith in God to back His dreams attracts angelic help – it attracts divine favour and the resources of heaven – are you excited and ready for that?
So here’s a challenge for you to kick off your dream journey in 2015
1. Invite God to spend some time with you to dream, grab some paper and some pencils or a pen.
2. Draw bottles of all different sizes and shapes (be as creative as you like by using pencils of different colors, or just a pen)
3. Now write inside each bottle what your dream is.
4. Then pray over the bottles (doing this is such an exciting part of dreaming with God!) Place your hands on the paper and speak over all your dreams. Release the oil of the Holy Spirit over each one with words of faith, blessing, favour and supernatural provision declaring that your dreams CAN and WILL be realized in Jesus name!
5. In days to come, revisit your bottles of dreams, and ask God which ones He wants you to start with first. You can also ask Him to reveal to you divine new strategies to see each dream realized. You can write these down inside the bottle too.
6. Have fun going after your dreams. (And keep your dream paper in a place where you will see it, or blue-tack it to the wall).
(I already sense how much you doing this will delight the heart of God!)
Remember, dreaming with God is not a luxury for “just some lucky people who have enough time” – dreaming is for everyone.
So go ahead, embrace the new year with confidence, and set aside some time with God to dream with Him – I know that as you do this, 2015 is going to be your most exciting and fruitful year yet!
I would love to receive your comments below. Please take a minute and let me know what some of your dreams are for 2015 so I can pray for you too.
TWO EXCITING WORKSHOPS FOR 2015
I love seeing people fully alive, blossoming and bearing much fruit. This is what Father God wants for your life, so I am very excited to let you know about two powerful workshops you can do in 2015.
The purpose of the workshops is to ignite you with fresh fire and passion to live in the fullness of God’s plans for your life. There are more details of both workshops on the website, but below is just a brief description. I encourage you to invest in yourself in 2015 and plan to get to one or both of these life-changing days.
The first workshop is “IDENTITY awakening – Unveiling your true identity”
This workshop which will empower you to live in your true identity and set you free to be the unique person God created you to be. When we know who we are, we can be who we are, and live in the fullness of all His dreams and plans for our lives. It is a powerful workshop and will take your relationship with God to another level.
The second workshop is “DREAM awakening – Unlocking the dreams of your heart”
This workshop is designed to unlock the dreams and desires of your heart. Proverbs 13:12 says “a desire fulfilled is a tree of life”.
